Faculties and graduate students from economics department can use the computer Ragnar remotely and through the terminals in the Lab. You can come by or send an email to apply for an account.

Once you have an account you should take a look at the following:

The first thing you should bear in mind is that Ragnar is a shared resource among all users. You are responsible for any work you leave running and all the CPU time it uses. Users are encouraged to run their CPU intensive processes during periods of low load, such as late at night, or at a low priority during normal hours.

System administrators can renice or kill any processes without notice. You will lose any data and/or computations associated with the running job

Storage

When you log in you’ll be directed to the home directory . This space should be used for storing files you want to keep long term such as source code, scripts, etc. Every user has a 5GB home directory soft quota. Disk space usage can be checked by entering the following command:

du -sh ~

If you need more disk space you should talk to the lab consultant. Please keep in mind that this is a shared resource, and the soft quota limit is not intended to restrict users but to prevent users from inconveniencing other users by filling up the entire disk partition.
