Installing rq -- Quantile Regression (Version 3.0)

This version of the library is intended for Splus5.x and was developed
on Suns.  I would appreciate hearing about problems on other systems.
There is still some flux in the 5.x versions of dumpChapter, etc. so
some of the advice below may contradict to some degree more official
advice available in Chambers Programming with Data, or V&R Splus
Programming Complements.  

Recipe:

	make a fresh directory rq -- for the brave at heart with su
		status this could be in $SHOME/library 
	cd rq
	S CHAPTER
	untar the library into rq
	S make
	cat rq.q|S
	cp help.sgm/* .Data/__Shelp

(For S read whatever you call S on your machine...)


If make works, it should produce an S.so file.  On our system there
have been problems with resolving references to some fortran library
functions.  See the makefile  for LOCAL_LIBS.
