The Econometrics Laboratory
The Lab was initially funded in 1995 primarily by NSF with some matching funds from the UI Ed Tech Board and Department of Economics. The rationale for the Lab, taken from the original proposal to NSF is:
It is a commonplace that econometrics is increasingly computationally intensive, and that the research frontier is frequently delimited by software and hardware considerations. This is especially true for graduate students who are often faced with outmoded computational facilities at the critical early stages of their careers. In this proposal we seek to improve dramatically the computing environment in econometrics for faculty and graduate students at the University of Illinois.
