Our first stop was Rapid City, South Dakota. We saw a spectacular lightning stor m as we drove around looking for a campsite, and ended up in one of the not-so-c heap motels on the strip.

We saw Mt. Rushmore.

We drove the next morning to see Devil's Tower (remember Close Encounters of the Third Kind?).
