Parting Shots

Mamadou stuck close to us for the four days we spent in Nana-Kenieba. His red shirt made him easily recognizable, and his sweet face prompted all of us to photograph.
Lucy's host family organized a neighborhood party for us. Women and children poured out into the street to dance - and to watch us dance. Nana Kenieba kids took our mattresses after we discovered they were filled with bedbugs.
Andy drinking dolo (beer) in Dogon country - it tasted sweet, warm, and yeasty. The Presidential Palace.  We were invited to see the President's wife, who talked for an hour about her days as a history student.
