Subject: not bleeding from all orifices
hi gang! i'm in the capital for a seminar, where we talk about classroom control, aids, and play on the beach and eat good hotel food. the north east and eastern provinces have been evacuated for ebola so all my friends are going home or to togo. we're all together for right now but it's pretty much a huge bummer. no danger for me in the south because the roads are so bad and no monkey in his right mind would come to the savannah anyway.
i had a wonderful vacation in mali burkina and togo and hopefully will get that letter out to you all one of these days. post is on strike since january, on and off, so i haven't gotten anything or sent anything. ndende is awesome and i am p^laying soccer with the girls team, it's like girls hockey all over again, where most of us know nothing and all the boys laugh as we whiff our shots. i'm doing aids sessions at the schools and am gonna start working with the hospital staff to reinforce the message, but aids is already here, especially in the high school. we test suspected cases but dont tell the results because there are no counseling services set up. great. this place really has its act together, let me tell you. it's easy to get overwhelmed and frustrated so i try not to think about how many of my students will be around in five years and instead just teach them the present perfect and how to use a condom. i can't save everyone.
i'm in town till march 3 so write back and let me what's happening in your neck of the woods. xmas cards are on their way but don't hold your breath.
