hi mom, hi dad, i'm in lbv with jenny and the whole stage crew. most are going to gamba but i am going with jenny to togo, burkina, mali, leaving dec 21 and returning jan 7. it's very last minute and i'm very excited to see everyone in bamako and show jenny around mali. we'll be in bko dec 23 or 24 till the 30, then up to mopti and pays dogon for new years.

this week i rode up to lbv in a bus that had the rubber straps for luggage passed through my window. Of course it rained from mouila to fougamou and i wassoaked the whole day. not a problem, though, because the case has hot showers! lbv is big and scary. almost as scary as the botfly larvae that the doctor squeezed out of my back on tuesday. I had seven. Now I will always iron my laundry. Always. <it was cool when they were little but after 5 days they were getting big and gross and eating me alive. i took a picture so you will all get to see later. :) later that day we went to mbolo, which is a super kmart, i am not kidding. that was more traumatic than the botflies. since then we've been running around getting visas and changing money and so the city is getting more manageable, but i feel like i've turned into a real villageoise, esp. next to my stagemates from the haute ogooue. but i like it like that.

this is my first email in 6 months so sorry for wierdness. i forgot kiras address for the zedding pics so please send it again and i will check when i am in lbv on my way back from vacation. things are great in ndende except for elections, but even that was anticlimactic, thank goodness. the militaire showed up ready to kill people but no one gave them any reason, they just sang all day long after burning the ballot boxes. now they just roam around hitting on lycee girls and harassing malian boutiquistes. anyway, it's high time for a vacation, i haven't gotten out of my province at all, so i'm going _away_. it's gonna rule. i'll be thinking of everyone in mpls and at home as jenny and i celebrate the new year on the dogon cliff in a little village mud hut. they have an entirely different calendar so it should be really chill. hopefully there won't be too many tourists. take care and have a happy and safe holiday season.
love, hannah
